Salt dough - 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, cold water. Mix until has consistency of play dough. bake at 250 for 2 hours, then cool and paint any color….good recipe for thumbprint pendants.
Update info:
DIY? I think so. Top: spray painted salt dough hearts just posted here, bottom: K’ien $99 Arc de Trio Necklace made out of Silver Plated Brass here. I’d use Fimo or Sculpey (on sale 4/$5 at Michaels this week), paint them, etc…

So what did you paint those with to make them look like metal? Those are so cool!
ReplyDeletePretty cool. Looks like metal. I'm going to have to try this. I remember years ago I did this and used food coloring in the dough. Made several flowers and decorated a cake.
ReplyDeleteJust make sure everyone knows not to eat them or they'll chip a tooth :-)
@Kimberly - There are some good metal color paints at the hardware store. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have a few questions.
1. What material/method did you use to get the look of both the hart and thumb print pendants.
2. did you do this before baking or after???
Miche' They do need to have the shape before baking. Hope that helps.
